The nose is deep and expressive, showing blackberry, cassis and spicy plum, layered with cedar, mocha and a touch of tobacco. The palate is full-bodied and concentrated, with black and red fruits supported by fine-grained tannins and a fresh, savoury finish. There is a real sense of structure here, but also polish and harmony, giving the wine both power and finesse.
Food Pairing
This is a superb partner for grilled steak, roast lamb, venison, beef Wellington and slow-cooked game dishes. It also works beautifully with mushroom risotto, rich braises, blue cheese and mature cheddar, where the wine’s structure and savoury depth come into their own.

Glenelly Estate was transformed by May de Lencquesaing, former owner of Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, who brought her Bordeaux heritage and vision to Stellenbosch in 2003. Set on east-facing slopes in a cool saddle valley, the estate is shaped by careful site selection, cool breezes and a clear commitment to elegance and balance. The Reserve Rouge is the estate’s signature red blend, crafted in a classic Bordeaux style and matured in French oak to build complexity and refinement.
